Crescent Head resides in a region that continues to draw in new residents. The latest data from the Regional Australia Institute tells a positive story.
Slated as one of the State’s highest growth regions, it’s an area with strong employment prospects in both building trades and health care. The Regional Movers Index June 2024 Quarter Report has some telling statistics. Behind Lake Macquarie and the Hunter’s Cessnock and Maitland LGAs, Macquarie-Hastings is attracting the next largest share of net internal migration. This includes people moving from cities and regional areas.
And when it comes to inter-regional migration, the Port Macquarie-Hastings LGA has exhibited the fastest growth, up 278.3% for the same 12 month period in 2023. In other words, people from other regional areas outside the city are seeing the value and natural beauty of the area and making the move.
Nationally, the region comes in 9th for total net migration, with 2.9% annual growth, a 26.8% increase on last year.
